Attention to the importance of soil
Soil is a very important natural resources, but also non-renewable resources, is the basis for agricultural development, but also an important part of the ecosystem for sustainable development; to food, feed, fuel and fiber production, clean water, nutrient cycling, organic carbon storage and provides the foundation of global biodiversity, but also a source of building materials.
Our soil is in danger of the situation in
2002 17th World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS), held in Bangkok, Thailand, the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) The Council proposed that the annual December 5 as World Soil Day (World Soil Day), to increase human understanding of the importance of soil management. December 5th is Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej His Majesty's birthday, "World Soil Day" scheduled for this day is to be remembered for his contribution in the promotion of soil science, soil conservation and sustainable land resource management.
19th World Congress of Soil Science held in Brisbane in 2010, the FAO will determine the "World Soil Day" on December 5.
December 20, 2013, sixty-eighth session of the UN General Assembly in 2015 will be identified as the "International Year of soil."
"2015 International Soil Year" aims to raise awareness on the important role of soils for food security and ecosystem functions in terms of basic knowledge and understanding.
